Abstract :
4-Alkyl- and 4-aryl-Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines were oxidized to the corresponding pyridine derivatives in excellent yields by molecular oxygen usingN-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) as the catalyst.
