Abstract :
Total syntheses of (+-)-(alpha)-isokainic acid and (+-)-(alpha)-dihydroallokainic acid have been achieved via tandem radical addition-homoallylic rearrangement and a decarboxylative Ramberg-Backlund reaction as the key steps.
