New Building Blocks for Peptide Analogue Synthesis: Reduced Diaza-(beta)3-Dipeptides

Reduction of N-protected aza-(beta)3-amino esters and oxidation of the alcohols afford aza-(beta)3-amino aldehydes. Condensation of unprotected aza-(beta)3-amino esters to the resultant aldehydes leads to hydrazones, which have been converted by reduction to useful synthetic building blocks for solid-phase synthesis of new peptidomimetics.
