  • Abstract
    An efficient and enantioselective synthesis of trans-(beta)-lactams from carboximide 1 and imines 2 using a chiral auxiliary under the classical Reformatsky reaction conditions is described. An enolate-imine mechanism has been proposed for this reaction.
