Abstract :
The treatment of wastewater containing suspended solids (SS) is an important topic related to strict environmental regulation and wastewater reuse in the preparation of carclazyte catalyst. This study indicated that the addition of an inorganic flocculant, anhydrous aluminum sulphate (AAS), to wastewater would be an effective method of removal of SS while maintaining the wastewater pH at 8.0. Results showed that the suitable amount of AAS addition to wastewater would be 0.02 mg/L under the experimental conditions. Further investigation indicated that UF operation combined with addition of AAS to wastewater could effectively remove COD and SS from the wastewater sample without adjusting its pH. This provided an optional method for potential application for wastewater in industries. Basic characterization showed that the reclaimed SS might be reused to prepare carclazyte catalyst through further treatment.
