  • Abstract
The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of eight week whole body vibration exercise on body composition indices such as body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, body fat percentage, and skin fold thickness in a group of healthy and overweight women. 20 healthy women aged 30 to 50 were selected and randomly assigned into 2 groups (vibration and control). Prior to experimental test, body composition indices were measured and recorded. All subjects performed 24 sessions (15 to 17 minutes each session) within eight weeks. Having collected the tests, the results of vibration training on the measured parameters were analyzed using t-test. Finally, the Tukey test was used to detect differences between certain indices. The results showed that except waist to hip ratio in 24 subjects before and after training, there was a significant difference (p < 0.05). It can be stated that 8 week whole-body vibration exercise of whole-body may effect on body composition indices and skinfold thickness toward health benefits.
