Abstract :
There has been much debate over the use of computers and the internet in foreign language teaching for more than two decades. Education, especially foreign language teaching, has to adapt and renew itself to be compatible with the globalized world. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of E-mail on improving EFL learnersʹ grammar skill and to highlight the benefits of using electronic mail (E-mail) in an EFL grammar class for students. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of E-mail on improving EFL learnersʹ grammar skill and to show the benefits of using electronic mail (E-mail) in an EFL grammar class for students. The participants of the study were 44 female students, by the age of 13-18 who were randomly assigned to the two groups of experimental and control. Each group consisted of 22 participants. The course lasted for 3 weeks, and was held in one of the institutes in AqQala, Iran. The first group (experimental group) sent their assignments through emails in addition to the traditional class activities but the second group (control group) had the traditional class and assignments were handed in hard copies. For measuring the grammar proficiency, a pre-test and post-test was administered to both groups. The pre-test and post-tests were tests based on the materials covered in the class. The pre-test and post-tests were multiple choices of the grammar. The results of the two posttests show improvement of the experimental group.
