  • Abstract
The Stoeckli method for the estimation of micropore size distribution (PSD) is analyzed and quantitative relationships between the mean and width of the PSD and the parameters a and m of the Stoeckli equation, as well as a qualitative relationship between the DA exponent, n, and the PSD mean and width, are presented. The method is applied to nitrogen adsorption data obtained on a series of activated charcoal cloths and quite reasonable and internally consistent semi-quantitative micropore size distributions are obtained. Criteria which should be used to assess the reliability of the results obtained when the Stoeckli method is applied to experimental data are suggested.
