Spatial Microstructure of Quantum Crystals

The spatial microstructure of quantum crystals is analyzed in terms of the crystallographic point and space group symmetries in the one- and two-body densities. Numerical results of exact quantum-mechanical Fourier path integral Monte Carlo calculations of solid natural argon in the hexagonal close-packed phase at the experimental triple point are presented. The experimental significance of this system in particular is addressed.
