Magnetic coupling between polar plumes and the heliospheric current sheet Original Research Article

A simple analytical model for the global magnetic configuration in the heliosphere is described as a superposition of the solar magnetic multipoles and a thin equatorial current sheet. Polar plumes are tracing these global field lines and inhomogeneous field-aligned currents. Both internal and external boundary conditions are important for the polar plume formation and dynamics.
