Abstract :
The role of a specific atmospheric condition (low air pressure) over South Pole in the stratospheric gas-phase photochemistry has been investigated based on analysis and photochemical numerical modeling. The results show a strong correlation between air pressure deficit over polar region and column ozone. The ozone content after sunrise in Antarctica is found to have reduction which looks like “ozone hole”. So, it is possible to obtain some simplified solutions from gas-phase stratospheric photochemical system if annual cycle in pressure is taken into account. The physical explanation of this effect is based on Chapman ozone theory.
