Abstract
The recently available data from an Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU) onboard the NOAA-15 satellite has enhanced the possibilities of the new meteorological products derivation. The products such as total precipitation water (TPW), rain rate (RR), cloud liquid water (CLW) and snow cover are being applied and validated by comparison with standard radiosonde measurements and synoptic data for Poland. The aim of the paper is to present the initial results of testing the known passive microwave methods for deriving products from NOAA-15 AMSU data taken on July 1999. The data were processed using AAPP package and visualised using Surfer as well as ER Mapper packages. Plans for further development and products distribution are also presented.
