Abstract :
A comprehensive package for the calculation of shell-model level densities is presented. A basic combinatorial result. and a sophisticated configuration generator, allow one to obtain exact predictions of the shell model, including the spin distributions in very large configuration spaces, going up to tens to MeV excitation in a heavy nucleus. A simplified pairing interaction, acting only within levels, is also taken into account. Utility programs include standardized generation of single-particle input, parametrized fitting of the calculated spin distributions, and various ways to produce graphical output.
