Abstract
We present a computer simulation study of the influence of dipolar interactions on the formation of mesophases. We have chosen the so-called Gay–Berne potential with longitudinal dipole–dipole interactions. The phase transitions are determined with isothermal–isobaric (NPT) Monte Carlo simulation, utilizing the reaction field method. Central and terminal dipoles have been considered in the simulations.
