Abstract :
COMPASS is a new fixed target high rate experiment at CERN. The expected RAW data size is in the order of 300 TB per year, collected during about six months of data taking at the mean rate of 35 MB/s. To fulfill the experiment requirements, the Collaboration decided to build the off-line system using new technologies. The computing power needed for RAW data processing has been estimated to be in the order of 2000 SPECint95, and will be provided by a farm of about 200 CPUs. The reconstruction program is under development and is written using object-oriented techniques and C++ as the programming language. In the present model, all the experimental and reconstructed data will be stored in an object database management system.
