Abstract
The aim of this paper is to report about the comparison between different schemes used in the development of the numerical code. The code is considered for simulations of fluid flows. The finite volume approach is adopted. The code is designed as a high order central numerical scheme. Different prescriptions for the reconstruction procedure and expressions for numerical fluxes are tested. The most promising scheme seems to be the high order WENO strategy that is able to achieve results comparable with Riemann solvers while it retains its simplicity within the central framework. An extension to three dimensions is implemented using a dimension by dimension approach. The code is fully parallelized with the MPI library. Several standard hydrodynamical tests are performed.
