Coils Original Research Article

We present a study into the shape of selected three-dimensional curves which we will call coils. Properties of these curves will be discussed, including that continuous coils have torsion of one sign and convex projections. The definition of a coil may be applied to continuous curves and sequences of distinct points making it suitable for shape preserving design applications where points along the curve are specified.
