To compute the mean normal vector to a surface bounded by Bézier curves, two formulas for the signed area of the region bounded by the projection of the boundary curve of the surface are derived. One is for a segment of the boundary curve of an integral Bézier curve, while the other is for a quadratic rational Bézier curve.
