Abstract :
Glasses of the xNd2O3·(1−x)Na2B4O7 system with 0=x=0.25 were studied by IR spectroscopy, density and magnetic susceptibility measurements. IR and density measurements show that the neodymium ions play a network modifier role in the host glass matrix. Magnetic susceptibility data show a mictomagnetic type behaviour due to the Nd3+ ions present as both isolated and exchange coupled species.
