Abstract
Heat transport phenomena and their influence on grain growth processes in non-oriented electrical steels are discussed. Special attention is given to the temperature distribution during the heating process. The temperature profile during the decarburization process enables clarification of the mechanism of grain boundary motion during final annealing. The kinetics of the microstructural evolution of non-oriented electrical steel is discussed in terms of the stored energy released and the temperature gradient. It is shown that small differences in the heating rate can leads to significant changes in the mechanism of grain boundary motion.
