Abstract :
The effect of different iron loadings (0.1%; 1%; 5%; 10%) on a 10% CoTiO2 catalyst was studied by a range of surface and bulk characterization techniques. The combination of techniques (B.E.T.; CO-chemisorption, desorption; DSC; XRD; XPS; TPR; TPD; SEM and Mössbauer Spectroscopy) revealed that an intimate interaction occurs between the Fe and Co atoms when compared to the pure metal components. Catalyst preparation and reduction procedures influenced both the bulk and the surface properties. The characterization studies revealed that the TiO2 systems do not differ significantly from SiO2 and Al2O3 supported, or alloy systems, reported elsewhere in the literature.
