Shape-selectivity in diisopropylnaphthalene synthesis or analytical errors? Original Research Article

Possible analytical errors in GC analysis of diisopropylnaphthalene (DIPN) isomeric mixtures and their influence on investigation of the shape selectivity effect, reported in the literature, are discussed. Independently of a catalyst tested, the 2,6-DIPN to 2,7-DIPN ratio was reported considerably higher in researches if non-polar GC columns were applied for DIPN analysis than in researches in which intermediate or polar columns were used.
