Abstract :
In this paper we present a method for the design of new lobe rotors for lobe pump design. A performance index, pumping ratio, is introduced and used to measure the performance of lobe pumps. This index depends solely on rotor geometry. Two pump design parameters, lobe noncircularity and pitch noncircularity, are also defined. It was found that these two design parameters are the main factors which determine the pumping ratio. Results show that many new possible lobe pumps with higher flowrate could be invented by using our method.
