Open-path synthesis of linkages through geometrical adaptation

The path synthesis of linkages is found to be a problem that varies greatly according to whether the required curve is a closed curve or an open curve (i.e. arc of curve). The latter case proves to be far more complex because it is necessary to determine the arc of the generated curve that best fits the required one. In this paper, we have developed a geometrical adaptation technique for simplifying the problem. The efficiency of this technique is shown through different numerical examples.
