Progressive Impedance Method for the classical analysis of acoustic transmission loss in multilayered walls

Prediction models for the acoustical behaviour of multilayered walls are of practical interest to the building industry, for design applications. This paper describes a classical approach to theoretically calculate the transmission loss of multilayered walls. The model is based on the compilation of the impedances encountered by an acoustic wave as it propagates through the wall. The characteristic impedance and the propagation constant of each layer are required as input parameters.
