Abstract
An experimental three-dimensional acoustic volumetric array system is described. The array consists of 64 omni-directional microphones arranged at pseudo-random locations within an 86 cm diameter spherical volume. The array is designed to operate in the audio frequency range and uses electronic beamforming techniques to provide a directional receive pattern. Experimental results are presented and compared to theoretical predictions.
