Abstract :
The evolution of texture during cold rolling of sheets of five commercial aluminium alloys is investigated as a function of initial texture, grain size and yield strength of the respective alloy. The resulting rolling textures are modelled with the help of the grain-interaction (GIA) model, an advanced texture model that takes interaction between next-neighbour grains into account. The introduction of random perturbations of the overall plane strain state and consideration of material parameters (strength and grain size) in the GIA model allowed for simulation of the rolling textures of the present Al alloys in great detail. The impact of deformation inhomogeneities like shear bands and deformation zones on the rolling texture evolution is discussed.
