Abstract
A tensile test with a higher automation degree is used in this paper to evaluate rapidly the formability of sheet metals, three shapes of tensile specimens being adopted to reflect better the deformation states of typical simulation tests. According to the correlation analysis results of tensile test values and typical simulation test values and optimum predication models are built to forecast sheet formability using tensile tests. Based on the analysis of the testing principle, fundamental components and software design, a system for evaluating sheet formability is built using modern measuring and testing techniques and electronic computer technology, which possesses process automation of test data acquisition, analysis, processing, prediction, result output, etc. The error analysis of the predication results shows that this system can meet the demands of practical production.
