On-line identification of thermally-induced convex deformation of the workpiece in surface grinding

In this paper, the time-series modeling techniques of grinding forces is used to identify over-grinding induced by thermal convex deformation within one pass. It is shown that the earlier the over-grinding is detected the better are the opportunities to avoid the detrimental features of this phenomenon, therefore, prediction is an important feature of monitoring strategy.
