Method of planning draughts for a cold-rolled strip

This paper describes a method of calculation of passes for a given cold-rolled strip based on Bland–Ford–Ellis method. This method enables calculation of all data (at each pass) for a given strip. In this paper, all problems involved in the calculation of the roll separating force are described and a method permitting the determination of the optimum number of passes and draughts to be accounted for in these passes is described in detail. A number of input and output data are illustrated. A software has been developed and selected examples have been used to illustrate its applicability. Methods for solving these examples, adapted to specific requirements of the software have been outlined.
