Abstract :
A shadow-mask is a specific metal plate that is used in color TVs and computer monitors. Manufacturing is generally composed of coating, cleaning, exposure and etching processes. After a thin metal plate is made by rolling, a photosensitive liquid is coated on the metal plate in a coating process. Then, the coated metal plate passes consecutively through an exposure process in which the upper and lower glass is compressed onto the plate by vacuuming the space between the glasses and the metal plate. In this condition, the metal plate is exposed to light and will be etched forming lots of average number of precisely positioned holes of a specific diameter. To achieve a vacuum faster, the vacuum between glasses and the metal plate is improved by the proposed method and experiments using the proposed method are performed to verify the process. In addition, the microstructure of the shadow-mask is investigated to prevent the stain phenomena and to improve the quality of the product.
