Abstract :
In surface grinding, the high-speed motion of the worktable has shown to be a major factor in requiring the control commands to have signals of wide range frequency distribution. In order to resolve this technical difficulty that is involved in the active precision control of the grinding process, a composite control approach can be used and the switching frequency determined using wavelet transform. In this method, the control command is decomposed into two parts, one for the heavy tool feed system and the other one for a fast actuating table. The issues of the wavelet frequency switch are discussed and models are presented together with the design for the switch. The dynamic characteristics of the actuating systems are considered and an optimal decomposition can be achieved to minimize the errors in implementation. The advantages of the wavelet based composite control are examined by testing to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
