Abstract
In this communication, a commercial FEM program, FORGE2®, is combined with empirical models to predict the distribution of the volume fraction recrystallised and the recrystallised grain size through the stock thickness after single pass laboratory rolling of aluminium alloy AA5083. A new approach is proposed to overcome the limitations of the previous work, which fail to give correct prediction. Excellent agreement with experimental measurement verifies the validity of the new approach.
