Abstract
The joining of green bodies prior to sintering is useful in obtaining complexly shaped ceramic parts. Three types of edge shape: I-type, V-type, and X-type, are prepared. Although the amount of scatter in flexural strength of the X-type edge is smallest, the effect of edge shape on the flexural strength of the joining specimen is slight. A joining specimen can be obtained with more than 60% of the base material strength. CIP operation is effective to obtain the high joining specimen strength. Mean flexural strength of the CIPed specimen after joining is about 317 MPa.
