Abstract :
The high temperature deformation of a Fe-based low nickel alloy was investigated by using the Gleeble-1500 thermo-mechanical simulation machine. True stress–true strain curves and microstructures were studied. The results show that the dynamic recovery is the dominating softening mechanism during the high temperature deformation of the alloy. Twin crystals are produced by annealing for 2 min after deformation. The addition of aluminum has little effect on the high temperature strength, but reduces the occurrence of dynamic recrystallization and annealing twin grains. The recovery activation energies were calculated from the Zener–Hollomon parameter and were found that it was to be higher for the alloy containing less aluminum.
