Abstract :
Punched steel sheets (metal sheets or foils) as thin as 0.1 mm are used in the field of filter and various precision instruments. Rapid and accurate techniques for punching thin sheet are therefore needed. The traditional punching method employs the up-down pressing action of a punch or a die on a strip metal. The efficiency of this method is determined by the speed of the action. To punch a sequence of tiny hole just a few millimeters apart, the feed speed of a strip of a metal to the punching machine can not exceed 2 m/min. We have therefore developed a new technique such as the feeding speed can be up to 100 m/min. Here, the new punching mechanism and tool configuration, the sequential punching system, the quality of the punched metal and the pattern to be punched are discussed.
