Abstract :
We have compared the grinding characteristic at the SCM415 that is one of the difficult-to-cut materials due to hardened brittle using the CBN wheel and the 38P wheel that increased the toughness and hardness at the WA wheel, and analyzed the tendency of grinding force and surface roughness from various working conditions such as spindle speed and depth of cut. Electrolytic in-process dressing was performed at the metal bonded diamond wheel and the CBN wheel. To find proper conditions at the Si3N4 ceramic, the grinding force, surface roughness, residual stress, and flatness was measured and the surface of the specimen was investigated by the AFM. The relationships between the truing time and the surface roughness at the super abrasive truing have been analyzed by a break truer and copper truer from the truing time and surface roughness point of view. From those characteristics, basic parameters have been presented for an optimum grinding condition and the effective dressing and truing method at the super abrasive truing have been presented.
