Modelling and process control for the hydroforming of metallic liners used for hydrogen storage

This paper is concerned with new developments associated with optimization and control of hydroforming processes for the manufacturing of metallic liners used for hydrogen storage. In the first approach, an optimization procedure is proposed, involving a determination of the hydroforming pressure through an incremental step by step optimization scheme. In the second approach, a control loop running the overall process based on the adjustment of the volume of fluid in the inner tube cavity, is proposed. Then an application corresponding to the hydroforming of metallic liners for hydrogen storage is described.
