Abstract :
A series of experiments of cup-rod combined extrusion processes were performed to study the impact of technological factors such as deformation temperature and the lubricating to the plastic properties of magnesium alloy (AZ61A). A specially designed die with its die chamber as a furnace chamber was employed to do the experiments. A profound analysis was presented in this paper to address the deformation mechanism on each phase of the extrusion process. The optimized deformation temperature and the lubricating were proposed in this paper. The work presented in this paper was hopefully to supplement and broaden the practice and application of the magnesium alloy processing using the technique of plastic forming.
