Abstract
A quasi-steady method which uses observed mean pressure coefficients to predict the expected peak positive or negative pressures is developed. It is shown that in the case of wall pressures this involves calculating the joint probability of instantaneous wind direction and gust dynamic pressure. With roof pressures the situation is more complex since the pressures are also sensitive to elevation angles and so the joint probability also includes this angle. Comparison of these predictions with observed data from the Silsoe 6 m cube show reasonable agreement.
