Deeply bound pionic atoms on β-unstable nuclei Original Research Article

We study the structure and formation of deeply bound pionic atoms on β-unstable nuclei. We calculate the eigenenergies of the pionic atoms using the model nuclear densities and the realistic pion-nucleus optical potential. We also investigate the formation cross sections of the deeply bound pionic atoms in the inverse reaction d(RI, 3He)X using an effective number approach for wide range of unstable nuclei with the closed neutron number so as to check the experimental feasibility.
