Abstract :
The effect of management system for a period of eight months of semi-intensive and extensive management and the effect of different regional cuts i.e. rib, shoulder and thigh on proximate composition of chevon slaughtered at 11 to 14 months (average 12.4 months of age) resulted in significant difference for all proximate values except protein. The highest level of ether extract, crude protein, ash and moisture recorded were 3.85, 20.62, 12.6 and 75.57% under intensive, semiintensive, intensive and extensive system of management, respectively. Under regional cuts, the highest value for ether extract, protein, ash and moisture recorded were 3.61. 21.7, 1.20 and 75.26% in rib, thigh, rib and in shoulder, respectively.
