Abstract :
Studies were conducted to assess the efficacy of diphenylamine (DPA), a natural growth inhibitor, for inhibition of potato sprouting during non-refrigerated storage in an evaporatively cooled store (17-30°C, 75-95% RH). Double treatment of tubers with I500-2500 mg a.i. DPA/kg tuber weight for 10/15 days under air tight conditions significantly reduced sprouting of tubers till 80 days of storage as compared to control. Treatments also significantly reduced sprout growth, weight loss and shriveling in tubers up to 110 days.
