Abstract :
A series of reaction studies has recently been performed using less than 1 MeV per nucleon post-accelerated 6He beams to induce reactions on proton and carbon targets. The p(6He,4He)t angular distribution obtained in this study allows a discrimination between coupled reaction channel and distorted wave Born approximation model predictions. Moreover, the generalised optical theorem for charged particles has been used to deduce the 6He+12C total reaction cross section model-independently (σR=1840±20 mb). As expected it is much greater than the value obtained from previously measured 6Li+12C data (σR=880 mb).
