Abstract :
We present high transverse momentum particle spectra from Au+Au collisions at View the MathML source measured with the BRAHMS detector. At midrapidity, unidentified hadron spectra have been measured to a momentum of 5 GeV/c. The shape of the spectra indicates that hadron yields are suppressed at high pT in central collisions relative to a nucleon-nucleon reference scaled for collision geometry. The ratio of protons to all hadrons has been measured up to pT = 3.5 GeV/c and exceeds 1/3 at pT > 2 GeV/c. At y ≈ 2 negative pion spectra have been measured over a broad pT range to investigate the medium effects at forward rapidities.
