Experimental verification of the GDH sum rule up to 3 GeV Original Research Article

The GDH sum rule has been tested for the first time at the electron accelerators MAMI in Mainz and ELSA in Bonn, using circularly polarized photons, a longitudinally polarized nucleon target together with 4 π detector systems. The results agrees within error bars with the sum rule value for the proton.
