Abstract :
Fission lifetime distributions of highly excited nuclei are calculated using statistical (without friction) and dynamical (including friction) options of a modified version of the combined dynamical and statistical model, CDSM. For initial nuclei with View the MathML source both options result in distributions possessing a long lifetime component which is much stronger pronounced in dynamical calculations due to retarding role of nuclear friction. Since the long lifetime component influences significantly the average fission lifetimes, the experiments being carried out at GANIL can confirm or disprove our theoretical prediction.
