The resonance-like dependence of the average fission lifetimes upon the parameters of the excited nucleus Original Research Article

From general considerations, the fission lifetime of a heated nucleus is expected to decrease monotonically with its fissility parameter,Z2/A, and its angular momentum,L, due to the reduction of the fission barrier height,Bf. In contradistinction to the above expectation our calculations show that competition between neutron and fission channels results in a resonance-like dependence of average fission lifetime upon there parameters.
