Abstract :
A simple stand volume yield equation based on easily obtained stand level parameters was found to provide reasonably accurate estimates of cubic foot volume yields across a wide variety of growth and yield systems, historic yield tables and permanent plot data. Yield estimates based on stand basal area per hectare and average dominant height were generally within 5% of yields obtained from two popular growth and yield simulators for plantation grown southern pines. Hardwood yield estimates were found to be within 10% of existing historic yield tables, a hardwood growth simulator, and existing permanent plot data.
