The GEM detector activity at the Frascati Laboratory Original Research Article

In this paper we present a review of the main activities on GEMs performed by our group: from the pioneristic experience on the R&D on fast triple-GEM detectors for the LHCb experiment, to the recent development, in the framework of the KLOE experiment upgrade, of a new and competitive category of ultra-light full sensitive vertex detector based on the Cylindrical GEM detector (CGEM) technology.
